An original Japanese woodblock print by Utagawa Kunisada (Toyokuni III), one of the foremost masters of the ukiyo-e tradition. This work depicts Yokozone Heitarō, a popular kabuki character, rendered with Kunisada’s characteristic attention to dramatic pose, costume detail, and theatrical expression. Kunisada was the leading ukiyo-e artist of his generation, renowned for his actor portraits (yakusha-e) and bijin-ga. His works capture the vibrancy of Edo-period culture and remain highly collectible today.
